Dombrowski Deserves Some Credit

Dave Dombrowski has received a lot of criticism in his time as team President with the Red Sox.

And rightfully so.

He signed probably the worst signing of all time for the Red Sox in Pablo Sandoval, and the Price contract is looking worse and worse by the day.

But with the recent stellar play from Eduardo Nunez and Rafael Devers, Dombrowski does deserve some credit.

Nunez, who was acquired for some minor leaguers before the trade deadline, has been the best hitter on the Red Sox recently and is the reason they are in first place.

In six games with the Red Sox, Nunez is 13-27 with two homers and a staggering 10 RBI’s. He has been batting third the last few games, and he is simply winning baseball games for this team.

In addition to Nunez, Devers has also been hitting the cover off the ball.

Instead of trading prospects like Devers for Todd Frazier and relievers from the White Sox, Dombrowski called up Devers to play third, and man has he produced.

In eight games, Devers is hitting .408 with 3 home runs. After being moved to the five-hole Thursday night and hitting another crucial home run, Devers is showing that he can finally provide some offense from the third base position.

Thank you, Deven Marrero and Tzu-Wei Lin for your contributions, but Devers is the guy now.

Come October, Nunez and Devers may be crucial to helping this team bring back a World Series to Boston.

Well done Dave.
