The Red Sox Are Must Watch Television

Since the All-Star break, the Red Sox have simply become must-watch television every single night.

After having three comeback victories just in the last week alone, the Sox finally have the look of a championship team.

This was not the case at the beginning of the season.

In the beginning of the year, once the Sox were down late in the game, it was just about time to turn off your television.

With two outs and runners in scoring position, no chance they would have a clutch hit.

At least that was the fan perspective.

However, since the addition of Eduardo Nunez and Rafael Devers, and, perhaps coincidentally, since Dustin Pedroia and David Price went on the DL, that narrative has changed.

Not only have the Red Sox been on a tear, winning 13 out of their last 15 games, but they have been doing it in clutch moments.

This was on full display Friday night against the Yankees. With two outs and a runner in scoring position, Mitch Moreland had a key pinch-hit game-tying RBI single against Aroldis Chapman.

This was seen on Wednesday night. Down by a run with runners on first and second with two outs in the bottom of the ninth against the Cardinals, Mookie hit a walk-off two-RBI double.

All year long, this team has felt like a good team, but not necessarily a championship team.

Now, this feels like a championship team.

The 2013 World Series Red Sox team had that self-confidence and late-inning magic. There was always the feeling that they were never out of the game, no matter the deficit. This is often the makeup of a team with “championship DNA.”

After three straight come from behind wins in the last week, the Sox are starting to look like a team with “championship DNA.”

Let’s hope so come October.
