Cavs End Celtics Season

On Thursday night, the Celtics ended the series just as it began.

By getting blown out at home, 135-102, and showing an inability to stop the superior offense of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Once again, the Celtics demonstrated how far away they are from actually competing against LeBron James and the Cavs.

With Isaiah Thomas out hurt with a hip injury, the Celtics lineup on the court looked more like the Red Maine Claws at times than an NBA team.

A lineup of players on the court consisting of Kelly Olynyk, Jared Jerebko, Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier will not give you a chance to beat an average NBA team, let alone the Cavs.

The game was cringeworthy to watch from the very beginning.

The Cavaliers got out to an early 20-point lead in the first quarter, just utterly dominating the C’s with their athleticism and pure talent.

And sadly, the Celtics could not do a thing about it.

At Halftime, Cleveland scored 75 points, which was a franchise record for a half, and led the Celtics 75-57.

Even when the Celtics played good defense, Kyrie Irving would drain a fadeaway three in the face of the Celtics defender or LeBron would have a size mismatch and over-power the smaller Celtics players.

When the Celtics doubled James or Irving, players like Kevin Love, Deron Williams, J.R. Smith, and Kyle Korver would hit deflating 3’s.

Although the talent was not there for the Celtics, there was not a lack of effort.

More specifically, Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier showed fantastic fight in this game. They both relentlessly attacked the hoop and gave the Celtics some much-needed athleticism.

Although the C’s came up short in the series, their young core of players has shown a lot of growth throughout the season.

Now it is on to the NBA draft and then free agency for the Celtics. With a couple of additional transformative players, this Celtics team could be a competitive team in the East for years to come.

The game was embarrassing last night. But the future is bright.
